ADVENTURES IN WORSHIP 2021
Gillian Walsh and I are taking a road trip (the first of many) to religious/spiritual sites in the US this summer
I'm going on a little research/performance trip this summer (June 11-14) to various religious/holy sites in America with my friend Gillian. We plan to do some impromptu performances, take photos, video, and write a lot. The idea is to travel to places where there has been some significant, or not so significant, moment of religious or spiritual feeling/activity/inspiration. I'm hoping it becomes a larger process and leads us further down the road to some new ways of combining liturgics, felt spirituality, and art.
Some of the places we plan to go:
the site where John the Baptists appeared and baptized Joseph Smith
the town in NY with all the mediums
the Creation Museum
the site of the Cane Ridge Revival, which started revivalism in America
maybe the church founded by my ancestor after he went and was inspired by the Cane Ridge Revival
and maybe the Billy Graham Museum.
